Adventure should be an opportunity—not a barrier.
At Evergreen Adventure Group™, we believe that everyone deserves opportunities to explore, learn, connect, and experience something new.
That's the idea behind RedLeaf Adventures™, our developing inclusive adventure program designed to create meaningful experiences for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities.
RedLeaf is part of the Evergreen Adventure Group family of programs, alongside youth-focused GreenLeaf Adventures™ and family-focused OrangeLeaf Family Adventures™.
While each program serves a different audience, they share a common purpose:
Creating experiences that help people get out, explore, connect, and make memories.
❤️ What Is RedLeaf Adventures™?
RedLeaf Adventures is being developed around one simple principle:
Inclusion should be part of the planning—not an afterthought.
Traditional travel and recreational experiences aren't always designed with different abilities and support needs in mind.
Transportation may present challenges.
Venues may have accessibility limitations.
Crowds and sensory environments may be overwhelming.
Schedules may not provide enough flexibility.
Families may have difficulty determining whether an experience will actually work for their loved one.
RedLeaf aims to approach adventure differently.
Rather than simply asking, "Is this destination accessible?"
We're asking:
"How can we thoughtfully design the entire experience so more people can participate?"
That means considering accessibility, transportation, communication, pacing, environment, staffing, accommodations, and participant needs during the planning process.
♿ Who Is RedLeaf For?
RedLeaf Adventures is being developed for individuals with a range of physical and developmental disabilities, with experiences tailored as thoughtfully as possible to the needs of each group and activity.
Depending on the program, participants may attend with parents, guardians, caregivers, support professionals, or other members of their support network.
We recognize that no two participants are exactly alike.
One person may need mobility accommodations.
Another may benefit from a quieter environment or additional preparation.
Someone else may simply need a little more time and flexibility.
That's why RedLeaf isn't about creating a single formula for accessibility.
It's about creating better opportunities for participation.
🌲 What Types of Experiences Are We Exploring?
RedLeaf Adventures will focus on activities that provide opportunities for recreation, exploration, education, social connection, and fun.
Potential experiences may include:
🚌 Accessible Day Trips
Destination-based outings can provide an opportunity to explore local attractions, cultural institutions, entertainment venues, outdoor destinations, and community events.
🌲 Outdoor Recreation
We're exploring outdoor experiences that can be adapted or selected based on participant abilities and accessibility considerations.
These may include nature experiences, parks, scenic destinations, and recreational activities.
🏛️ Museums & Cultural Experiences
Museums, aquariums, science centers, cultural institutions, and other educational destinations can provide opportunities for exploration and learning.
RedLeaf will look for experiences where accessibility and participant comfort can be meaningfully incorporated into planning.
🎭 Arts & Entertainment
Performances, creative activities, movies, community events, and other entertainment experiences can create opportunities for social connection and self-expression.
🎉 Seasonal & Community Events
RedLeaf may also include carefully selected seasonal celebrations, festivals, community activities, and special events.
🏨 Overnight Getaways
As the program grows, we're exploring opportunities for accessible overnight experiences and short getaways where transportation, lodging, activities, and scheduling can be coordinated as part of one experience.
🧭 More Than Accessibility
Accessibility is important—but RedLeaf is about more than ramps, elevators, and accessible restrooms.
A truly inclusive experience considers the whole participant.
That can include:
-
Physical accessibility
-
Transportation needs
-
Sensory considerations
-
Communication needs
-
Activity pacing
-
Rest and break opportunities
-
Clear schedules and expectations
-
Dietary considerations when applicable
-
Companion or caregiver participation
-
Venue accessibility
-
Emergency planning
-
Staff preparedness
-
Family and caregiver communication
Not every experience will be appropriate for every participant.
And that's okay.
Our responsibility is to be transparent about what an experience can and cannot accommodate so families can make informed decisions.
👨👩👧👦 Families & Caregivers Are Part of the Experience
RedLeaf recognizes that adventure often involves more than the participant.
Parents, guardians, caregivers, and support professionals may play an important role in making an experience successful.
That's why communication is an important part of the RedLeaf model.
Before an activity, families should have access to information that helps them determine whether the experience is a good fit, including relevant information about the destination, transportation, schedule, activity level, accessibility features, and expectations.
Our goal is to reduce uncertainty.
Because families shouldn't have to spend hours calling five different places just to figure out whether their loved one can participate.
🤝 Building the Right Partnerships
Creating meaningful inclusive experiences requires collaboration.
RedLeaf Adventures will seek relationships with organizations, venues, transportation providers, hospitality businesses, recreation providers, community organizations, and other partners that share an interest in creating more inclusive experiences.
Partnerships may help us identify:
-
Accessible destinations
-
Inclusive recreational activities
-
Transportation solutions
-
Sensory-friendly opportunities
-
Adaptive recreation programs
-
Accessible lodging
-
Community resources
-
Educational opportunities
-
Inclusive entertainment
We also believe the best programs are informed by the people they are intended to serve.
Listening is part of planning.
🌎 What Could a RedLeaf Adventure Look Like?
Imagine a carefully planned day trip.
Participants meet at a designated location and travel together using appropriate transportation.
The group arrives at an attraction where accessibility information has already been reviewed.
The schedule allows time to explore without unnecessarily rushing from one activity to another.
Participants have opportunities to take breaks.
Families and caregivers know what to expect.
Staff understand the day's itinerary and procedures.
And everyone gets to focus on the part that matters most:
Having a great day.
That's the kind of experience we're working toward.
🌿 RedLeaf Is Growing
RedLeaf Adventures is a developing program, and we're building it intentionally.
Our first priority is not creating the biggest calendar.
It's creating quality experiences that are thoughtfully planned, responsibly operated, and genuinely useful to the people we serve.
As RedLeaf grows, we expect our offerings to evolve based on participant feedback, community needs, available destinations, accessibility considerations, and partnerships.
Some experiences may be one-day excursions.
Others may eventually become weekend getaways or specialized adventure programs.
The possibilities are wide open.
❤️ A Different Way to Think About Adventure
Adventure doesn't have to mean climbing a mountain.
It can mean visiting a museum you've never seen.
Going to a performance.
Exploring a new city.
Meeting new people.
Trying an activity for the first time.
Taking a family day trip.
Spending a weekend somewhere different.
Or simply having the opportunity to say:
"I want to go, too."
That's the opportunity RedLeaf Adventures wants to help create.
🌲 Growing an Adventure Community
RedLeaf Adventures™ is part of the broader Evergreen Adventure Group™ vision: creating experiences for different communities, interests, ages, and abilities.
GreenLeaf creates opportunities for young people to learn through adventure.
OrangeLeaf creates opportunities for families to explore together.

❤️ RedLeaf Adventures™
Explore. Connect. Experience. Belong.
Adventure should have room for everyone.
