About Camp Evergreen

Camp Evergreen is a youth enrichment and adventure program designed to give children and teens meaningful opportunities to learn, explore, create, and grow beyond the traditional classroom.

Our programs combine education, STEM and technology, outdoor recreation, arts and enrichment, leadership development, field trips, cultural experiences, and adventure-based learning.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, and professional Youth Development & Adventure Professional who enjoys working with young people and wants to help create experiences that are safe, educational, engaging, and memorable.

The Opportunity

The Youth Development & Adventure Professional is a front-line member of the Camp Evergreen team responsible for helping deliver high-quality youth programs and creating a positive environment where children and teens can learn, participate, build confidence, and have fun.

This position is ideal for someone who can naturally connect with youth while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, safety standards, structure, and accountability.

The successful candidate will serve as a positive role model and actively participate in programming rather than simply supervise from the sidelines.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage children and teens during after-school programs, enrichment activities, camps, field trips, and special events.

  • Assist with planning and delivering age-appropriate educational, recreational, STEM, technology, and enrichment activities.

  • Facilitate activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and confidence.

  • Support homework assistance and academic enrichment when assigned.

  • Participate in outdoor recreation, games, sports, arts and crafts, STEM activities, technology projects, and other Camp Evergreen programming.

  • Help create a welcoming, inclusive, structured, and positive environment for every participant.

  • Build positive and appropriate relationships with youth while serving as a dependable role model.

  • Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding program activities and participant needs.

  • Follow all Camp Evergreen safety procedures, emergency procedures, supervision requirements, and operational policies.

  • Assist with participant check-in/check-out and maintain accurate attendance and program documentation.

  • Help prepare activity spaces, equipment, supplies, and materials before and after programming.

  • Assist with maintaining clean, organized, and safe program areas.

  • Support staff during field trips, educational excursions, community events, and off-site activities.

  • Identify and appropriately report safety concerns, behavioral concerns, injuries, incidents, or other issues to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Work collaboratively with other Camp Evergreen team members to maintain a high-quality participant experience.

  • Perform other duties related to youth programming and operations as assigned.

  • Interested in education, STEM, technology, recreation, outdoor activities, travel, or youth development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • Previous experience working with children or teens preferred.

  • Previous experience in youth programs, education, recreation, camps, childcare, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or similar environments is a plus.

  • Ability to pass a required background check.

  • Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

  • Ability to safely participate in and supervise youth activities appropriate to the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with school-age children or teenagers.

  • Experience in after-school programs, summer camps, youth organizations, recreation programs, or educational settings.

  • CPR/First Aid certification.

  • Experience with STEM, coding, computers, Microsoft Office, robotics, science, arts, sports, outdoor recreation, or other youth enrichment activities.

  • Experience leading groups or facilitating activities.

  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.

  • Experience working with diverse groups of children and families.

Work Environment

This is an active youth-development position. Employees may spend significant portions of the workday standing, walking, participating in activities, supervising groups, setting up equipment, and working indoors or outdoors.

The position may involve occasional evening, weekend, school-break, field-trip, and special-event hours depending on program schedules.
